Amini and Marianne, Two young people in their twenties living in the capital city of Skopje. Each one is living on the opposite side of the river Vardar that had divided their society into two different groups: One is Orthodox and has a Western character, while the other is Muslim with an oriental character. In theory, Macedonia is a homogenous multi-ethnic, multi-religious country, but its latest issues have historical roots that led to this dichotomous categorization and rendered the concept of nationalism alien to the people of this country. The country is divided into two ethnic groups: Albanian and Slav, each clinging to its own identity and inherited tradition by speaking its language and practicing its religion.
