Vesuvius is an active volcano and considered to be one of the most dangerous volcanoes in Europe.

No other volcano in the world is inhabited like the (so-called) ‘Vesuvian red zone’, where roughly 800,000 people live.

How does it feel to live at the slopes of an active volcano, knowing that it might explode one day?

The answer to this question leads us to understand the nature and characteristics of Naples, Vesuvius and the Vesuvian people.

Following stories of people very much attached to the volcano and, through them, we will discover that Naples is a place unique in the world, full of myths, tales and literary evocations and, that the very presence of the volcano above the people has forged the city’s own character and shaped people’s way of life.
